Coronavirus: Even mild cough spooks people in villages

Adilabad: The coronavirus is terrorising the people of not only cities, but towns and villages also.

People are afraid to attend marriages and to visit public places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Asifabad districts.

Recently a person, resident of Mujigi village, Nirmal Rural mandal, Nirmal district, was sent to Hyderabad with coronavirus symptoms. He was discharged after his test results came negative of the virus. Two days ago, (Saturday), one Sriharsha was admitted in Mancherial Government Hospital with cold and cough. Suspecting coronavirus symptoms, the doctors rushed him to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. It's learnt that Sriharsha came to Mancherial from Italy 12 days ago, who is pursuing MS in that country.

The continuous warnings and suggestions on TV and mobile phones is making the people, who are suffering with common cold and cough,

to worry whether they were infected with the virus. No coronavirus

case has been registered in the joint district so far.

As a precautionary measure, the government had closed educational institutions, malls, cinema theatres, pubs etc and the people also wearing masks and trying to avoid public places where more people gathers. The District Judge of District Legal Services Authority taken up awareness rally in Adilabad town to create awareness among the people on how to prevent the viral infection. People were advised to consult doctor, if they are suffering from cough and cold, breathing problems.

District Medial and Health Officer T Chandu said that no coronavirus case has been registered in the district and made it clear that the virus will survive under 7 to 23 degree temperature only and the virus cannot survive the high temperature in the district. He informed that isolation wards with 20 beds were set up, intensive care unit with 10 beds in RIMS hospital with another 20 beds.

District Collector A Sri Devasena announced to close all educational institutions, coaching centres, function halls till March 31 and board examination and welfare hostels will continue as usual.
