Coronavirus lockdown: Restaurant owners in Telangana seeks KTR's help over losses

Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday assured to stabilize the restaurant industry which is facing huge losses due to the coronavirus induced lockdown. This comes after the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and Telangana State Hotels Association (TSHA) met the minister and discussed the situation of the business.

Olive Bistro's Shaaz Mehmood, Shankar Krishnamurthy of Fusion 9 and Amar Ohri of Ohri's group told the minister the restaurant industry has not received any support from any quarter. The minister assured resumption of services after lockdown and also promised to provide all support to stabilize the industry.

KTR also directed the representatives to set up internal guidelines with respect to the government norms. The representatives were asked to maintain sanitation, hygiene and social distancing at the restaurants. The minister said that the restaurant industry which usually has an annual turnover of Rs 4 lakh crore has faced huge losses nationally. It is the third-largest industry after the retail and insurance segment, KTR said.

The Food and Beverages Industry is the most-affected industry in the coronavirus pandemic.
