COVID-19: Jumerat Bazaar in Hyderabad closed
With the rise in the COVID-19 positive cases in Hyderabad, the roads in the city wore a deserted look including the weekly Jumerat Bazaar in the old city. The popular weekly market of the Nizam era which sees a large number of people has been closed as a precautionary measure to control the spread of COVID-19.
A vendor at the Jumerat Bazaar said that the policemen came and asked them to close the shops. He continued to say that the policemen explained to them about the COVID-19 and asked them to cooperate with them.
The market which is situated near Chudi Bazaar sees scores of people on Thursdays. Jumerat Bazaar is a place where people can buy clothes, household appliances, plasticware, mobiles, TVs and everything.
The police asked the vendors not to open the shops in the view of the COVID-19 outbreak. As the market sees a large of people, the risk of getting infected by the coronavirus is high. Considering the public safety, the vendors were asked to close the shops, said the police.
