Hyderabad: In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Telangana government is planning to set up more quarantine centres in the state including a 200-bed isolation ward at the Telangana State Institute of Rural Development in Rajendranagar.

Cleaning and sanitation activities have begun at the institute since Wednesday evening and the works have been taken up by Ixora Corporate Services Private Limited. It is learned that around 100 workers have been deployed for the sanitation works using steam machines, spraying disinfectants and others.

There were also plans to provide quarantine support to at least 22000 international passengers in the state with COVID-19 symptoms, said Minister for Health, Eatala Rajender earlier this week.

On the other hand, the government has initiated works to set up a quarantine centre at Gachibowli stadium. The cleaning and sanitation works have been handed over to Circle 11 Serilingampally of GHMC. The 50-bed isolation ward at Gachibowli stadium will provide quarantine support to the people getting admitted to hospitals with suspected coronavirus symptoms.
