Crime rate will come down with ICJS: Police Commissioner

Karimnagar: The Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), which was introduced to upload the FIRs and charge sheet through online, was launched in Karimnagar on Monday.

High Court Chief Justice RS Chauhan launched the ICJS system from Hyderabad through a video conference. Karimnagar Police Commissioner VB Kamalsan Reddy uploaded a charge sheet and sent it to the Chief Justice through online.

With this system, all the FIRs and charge sheets that police register will reach the court through online. The Central government had chosen Telangana for implementing ICJS in the country. First it launched the system in Warangal in December 2018, and second in Karimnagar as a pilot project on Monday.

Through this system, first FIRs and charge sheets will be uploaded, later summons and warrants along with complete details of cases and criminals will be uploaded. It is linked first with police and courts and later will be extended to prisons, prosecution and forensic labs along with women and child welfare departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy said that with this ICJS system, workload will reduce along with the time and there is no need of extra staff to operate it. The information of several criminal cases will be available through this system and will enables the police personnel to crack down the cases with ease, he added.

With ICJS system, crime rate will come down since the criminals can be traced easily and can be nabbed immediately after the offence. Information about pass ports, employment opportunities also can be obtained through this system, he informed.

Director General of Police Mahendar Reddy, IGP of Technical Services Ravi Gupta and the Central government e-Committee member Munishwar Goswamy were among those who participated in the video conference from Hyderabad.

District Principal and Sessions Judge Anupama Chakravarthy, Huzurabad Magistrate and ICJS Nodal Officer Radhika, Karimnagar town ACP P Ashok Kumar,

DCP (Communications) Srinivas, Inspectors Vijay Kumar, Vignan Rao, T Srinivas Rao, Damodar Reddy and IT Core Team Cyber Lab in-charge Murali were among those, who participated in the video conference from Karimnagar.
