CS asks babus to step up green drive

Hyderabad: State Chief Secretary S K Joshi asked the district collectors to take steps to intensify the Telanganaku Haritha Haram (THH) programme as the State is experiencing goods rains.

Addressing the district collectors through video conference here on Tuesday he asked them not only to take up planting of saplings of suitable height but also provide watering facility and protection to them.

"Instead of focusing on planting more number of saplings, he asked them to lay more emphasis on the survival rates of the plants.

For this, Special Chief Secretary of Forests Ajay Mishra asked the officials in the districts to ensure that the saplings should be of proper height so that the survival rates of plants would be more.

Priyanka Varghese, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, asked the officials to take up plantation of sapling under THH by making use of the rains being witnessed in the State.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests PK Jha said that there is a good response from the people for four rounds of THH programme and the green initiative should be continued in coordination with all the departments.

Besides, he asked each department to take responsibility for supervising and protection of the saplings planted by them.
