Cyberabad cops rescue 192 kids under Operation Smile

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said that 192 children including 72 girls were rescued in the city under 'Operation Smile-V' from 18 June to 31 October 2019. Out of the 192 rescued children, 53 (36 boys, 17 girls) belong to other States.

He said Operation Smile teams of Cyberabad have rescued children from rag picking, child labour and begging.

Sajjanar mentioned that 181 children of 192 were sent to shelter homes and remaining were handed over to their parents.

The Commissioner also said that 'Operation Aasara' has been launched by Cyberabad police for people above 60 years, who are found begging or in a helpless state.

Cyberabad Aasara Teams have rescued and sent them to rehabilitation centres run by the Prisons Department, he added.

They are provided accommodation, food, recreation and education in rehabilitation homes. Some of them are provided with work to earn income.
