Nirmal: Dasara festival celebrated on a grand note in the erstwhile Adilabad district, Nirmal, Mancherial, Komaram Bheem-Asifabad districts on Tuesday.

In Nirmal town, festival celebrations held at Bangalpet Mahalaxmi temple where the 10-headed King Ravana's effigy was burnt. Forst and Environment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, the chief guest at the programme, offered special puja to Goddess Mahalakshmi and Shammi tree.

He said with the blessing of God, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and people, Nirmal constituency will be developed as a role model in the State. He wished all the people that new light will the lives of people. Reddy said that irrigation water will come from Kaleshwaram project to Pochampad project and the water will be supplied to the joint Adilabad district.

In Nirmal town, roads have been developed with Rs 80 crores funds and fountains constructed at Ambedkar Chowk, rural police station are attracting the viewers and another two water fountains will be constructed in near future, he said. All villages in Nirmal district will be made as Swachh villages before the next Dasara festival, he added.

Nirmal District Collector M Prashanthi, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Vijaya Ramkishan Reddy, Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju and others were present.
