Dattatreya demands review of Kaleshwaram project
Hyderabad: Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday demanded Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to conduct immediate review of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
Addressing the media, he said the State government created a frenzy around the KLIP being the world biggest project constructed with an outlay of Rs 80,000 crore. However, the current situation shows a lack of foresight.
He said the KLIP was meant to lift the water to take to Medigedd and from there to Annaram barrage. Accordingly, water had been pumped into these projects sung the KLIP lifts.
However, heavy inflows into the Godavari river has forced the officials to lift the gates of the Annaram project, and release nearly 3 tmc water into the river.
"Earlier, the projects were filled using the KLIP lifts. Now with the heavy inflows is forcing the water from Annaram barrage to come back to the point of Kaleswaram," he added.
This is the results of the unilateral decisions of KCR on the KLIP without listening to his ministers, officials as wells what technical experts advised to him.
In turn, it stands out as a classic example of how the public money to the tune of thousands of crores have been wasted and poured into the river, he said.
He asked the TRS chief not to go to prestige and call for a meeting with technical experts and all parties to take suggestions to review the KLIP.
Otherwise, it would not only cause loss to the State but also it will turn into a curse on Telangana, he cautioned.
Terming the Chief Minister had taken everything related to KLIP as if it is his own project.
