Death of farmer reflects government's lack of concern for ryots

Hyderabad: Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said that death of a farmer in the queue for urea had shocked him and it reflected the lack of concern on the part of the government towards farmers.

He pointed out that such a situation had never arisen during the time when the State was united under the Congress government. during the regime of the combined state such a situation has never taken place. He wondered what the Chief Minister's planning in regard to distribution of urea.

Addressing the media, he said though S Niranjan Reddy, who was former Vice-Chairman of Planning Board. was made Minister of Agriculture, the government had miserably failed in planning the distribution of urea in a proper manner.

He decried the remarks of the Minister likening the farmers with those who stood in queue for movie tickets. He demanded that the Minister to apologise to the people for his remarks.

Vikramarka said while the government had shown lot of enthusiasm to deposit money as part of Rythu Bandhu benefits in the accounts of the farmers at the time of elections, now the same enthusiasm is missing. He wanted immediate release of Rs 1,500 crore of insurance amount and Rs 1,300 crore of Rythu Bandhu beneifts.

He asked Health Minister whether ownership of TRS was important than the lives of the people and said that the Minister had ignored the spread of viral fevers in the state.

He praised TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan for pointing out the issues of the people and advised the Minister to follow the example.

He expressed his objection to engrave the pictures of Chief Minister on the sculptures of the Yadadri temple. Vikramarka advised the government that it should etch the pictures of Ambedkar, P V Narasimha Rao, Sonia Gandhi and others.

He criticised the outgoing Governor E S L Narasimhan for suppressed the Constitution in the State. The people of Telangana were fortunate that the term of Narasimhan was not extended.
