Declare TSRTC strike illegal: Govt. tells High Court
The Telangana government on Monday asked the High Court to declare the strike illegal. The government counsel told the court that the strike is considered illegal according to the Industrial Disputes act 1947.
"The strike should be declared as illegal according to section 22 (1) A of Industrial Disputes Act 1947 and Prohibition of strike act," the counsel said adding that the strike should be notified 15 days before to the government and it was done by the RTC workers.
The Advocate General further told the court that their demands can't be fulfilled by the government. "44 percent of the loss has been incurred to TSRTC due to the strike and the government will not hold any talks with the RTC workers," he said.
"Although the RTC union dropped its demand to merge RTC with the government. There are chances of bringing up it again by the RTC in the future," he said.
However, the court said that it cannot direct the government on the issue and asked the labour department to look into the matter and also directed to solve the issue in two weeks.
