Demand to increase wages of contract staff

Patancheru: District CITU leader Nageswar Rao on Monday demanded an increase in wages of the contract employees of PETL, which purifies industrial wastes and is located in local industrial estate.

The CITU organised a dharna before the industry on Monday to press its demand. Later, Rao stated that 50 contract workers of PETL had been working for the last 20-25 years without getting adequate wages and were suffering a lot.

They were being paid Rs 7,500 each. He demanded Rs15,000 as the minimum wage for each worker. The CITU leader wanted the management to take up the other problems of the workers to the Deputy Labour Commissioner.
