Telangana: Even after the relaxations in the lockdown, the government on Wednesday directed the authorities to celebrate the Telangana formation day as a low-key affair. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that no meetings or programmes will be conducted on the formation day except paying tributes to Telangana martyrs and hoisting the national flag.

The Chief Minister will be paying tributes at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial and hoist the national flag at Pragati Bhavan on state formation day on June 2. He directed all the minister and public representatives at all the headquarters to pay tributes to the martyrs and hoist the national flag.

Meanwhile, the 'At Home' function will be held at the district headquarters with limited guests.

The Telangana state was officially formed on June 2, 2014 after bifurcating from Andhra Pradesh. Every year, the state celebrates the formation day on a grand note. All the government buildings including Telangana assembly and secretariat would be decked up with flowers and lights. The Chief Minister used to address the public representatives and people at the public gardens or parade grounds marking the formation of Telangana state. He used to list out the welfare schemes launched by the government and their outcome.
