Hyderabad: The High Court Chief Justice bench on Monday heard the batch of eight public interest litigations and writs opposing the registration of agricultural and non-agricultural properties on Dharani portal. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has filed the vacate stay petition before the Chief Justice bench to vacate its orders dated November 3, 2020.

The Telangana government sought the revocation of interim orders issued by the court on November 3, 2020. The High Court imposed a stay on registrations of non-agricultural properties asking the government to not to insist for Aadhaar and caste details of people while taking up registrations on Dharani portal. Advocate General BS Prasad informed the court that Aadhaar details may be asked as subsidy schemes are continuing on farmlands in the State.

Further, he averred that the law says that Aadhaar can be considered as an identification card. One of the counsels for the petitioners, Desai Prakash Reddy, intended to file a response to the additional counter and the vacate stay petition filed by the State government.

The interim stay orders directing the State to not to insist upon the Aadhaar and caste details with respect to owners of agriculture lands and not to insist any of the details in respect to non-agriculture lands continues to exist till December 31. The High Court bench directed the petitioners to file objections to the vacate petition by December 31 and adjourned the case.
