Distribute deworming tablets from today: DMHO Dr R Rammohan Rao

Karimnagar: National Deworming Day was observed on a grand note under the District Medical and Health Department here on Wednesday. A rally was taken out on the occasion from DM&HO office to the Collectorate with health officials, medical staff and ANMs of six Primary Health Centres present in the city covering bus stand and Prathima Complex in the city.

The chief guest of the programme District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr R Rammohan Rao flagged off the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, DMHO Dr R Rammohan Rao advised the public to follow certain hygienic practices like washing hands with soap after going to toilets, before eating food etc to prevent the entry of worms into the body.

He told the health officials and medical staff to distribute Albendazole tablets from August 8 in Anganwadi centres, government and private schools and colleges freely for administering the tablets to students aged below 19 years to get rid of worms in the body. The officials further told to ensure that all the students attend the school on the day of tablets' distribution and to ensure that the students take the tablets without fail by giving a demonstration on how to take them. Take steps to stop open defecation and eating food items stored and kept in unhygienic conditions, he told the officials.

Additional DMHO Dr Sujatha, Deputy DMHO Dr Ravi Singh, DTT Project Officer Dr Rajani Priyadarshini, Immunisation Officer Dr Juveria, SMO Dr Sudhakar Reddy, MCH PO Dr Shirisha, SO Kantha Rao, Demo P Durga Rai and DPHSO Pushpa participated in the rally along with others.
