District Collector K Shashanka inaugurated Disha Smrithi Vanam in Gadwal

Gadwal: District Collector K Shashanka inaugurated Disha Smrithi Vanam, a garden in the memory of recently-murdered veterinary doctor in Shadnagar. The Collector inaugurated the garden on the premises of District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry office in Gadwal on Thursday.

Recollecting the gruesome murder of Dr. Disha, who was allegedly raped and burnt by the criminals recently, the Collector said as a mark of respect and with a hope for Disha's soul to rest in peace, the veterinary department staff in the district have come forward to establish a Smrithi Vanam. "This garden should remind each and every girl and women to be cautious while they are alone. They need to be aware of their protection and if in case they sense any trouble, they can always dial 100, 112 numbers for their protection by the police," said the Collector while inaugurating the Smrithi Vanam.

Later, the Collector planted a sapling in the garden. District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Aditya Keshava Sai, other staff members and senior district officials also attended the programme.
