Districts split becomes a curse for jobless in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Districts' reorganisation turned out to be a curse for the jobless youth in Karimnagar district, which increased unemployment in the district.

As many as 36,776 educated youth had registered their names in the Employment Exchange for a job. Before districts' reorganisation, migrants from Jagtial, Peddapalli and Sircilla, Bhupalapalli (Mahadevpoor, Kataram, Muttaram mandals) and Husnabad have settled in the district headquarters and surrounding mandals.

Now after the districts' reorganisation, job vacancies are divided among the newly carved districts out of Karimnagar. But the youth from the surrounding districts and the newly formed districts want to have a job in Karimnagar, thus making it difficult for the youth of new Karimnagar district to avail government jobs.

For instance, a total of 1,654 youth, including 947 women, have completed B Ed and waiting for job chances in Karimnagar district. About 277 D Ed graduates, including 151 women, are waiting for jobs.

However, after Karimnagar district was split into four districts, a few vacancies have remained in Karimnagar district.

Earlier, teacher job aspirants only used to register their names for District Selection Committee (DSC) with the employment exchange office. But Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's promise of providing unemployment allowance lead to a spurt in number of registrations by unemployed youth at the employment exchange. Now, 631 unemployed engineering graduates also registered their names with the exchange.

Along with them, 9,013 SSC qualified candidates; 7,558 Intermediate qualified candidates; 9,449 graduates, 3,078 ITI qualified candidates had registered their names in the Employment Exchange Office with a hope of getting a job. Also 661 trained nurses registered their names with the Employment Office.

According to official sources, on an average about 408 unemployed youth have been registering their names every month since last December.
