Warangal: Caught unawares of the Minister's surprise inspection, the MGM staff drew flak from him here on Thursday. Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who made a surprise visit to the MGM Hospital, found many senior doctors absent without proper information. The Minister was accompanied by Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil.

Furious over the state of affairs at the hospital, the Minister rang up the doctors and sought an explanation why they were not present. He warned them that such kind of dereliction of duty would land them in soup.

"The doctors need to understand that patients coming from far-flung places would be put to hardships. The MGM hospital is the only hope for the poor and downtrodden belonging to north Telangana region.

The State government is striving hard to provide good healthcare services to the poor and it needs the support of doctors and other staff," Errabelli said.

He directed the hospital superintendent B Srinivasa Rao and Kakatiya Medical College principal S Sandhya to install biometric attendance system so that to ensure the staff's attendance properly.

The Minister said that the district administration is trying to procure infrastructural facilities with the help of philanthropists besides hospital development fund. "All that we need is a commitment to improve the healthcare services," he said.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the development of the hospital, he said. Later, the minister interacted with the patients. He also elicited information from the hospital staff about the shortcomings that have to be addressed.

The Minister said that all the issues pertaining to hospital would be addressed soon. The Minister told the Collector and hospital authorities to take action against the staff absent unauthorisedly.
