Doctors give vague reasons to cancel tubectomy
Tandur: A nursing woman, who was about to undergo tubectomy, was suddenly sent out by the doctors due to the reasons best known to them. Anitha, a native of Bandapalli village, delivered second time here at district hospital a month ago. She gave birth to a boy and girl.
The doctors advised her to undergo surgery after a month, when she asked for birth control operation. As per the schedule, she reached the hospital on Monday in the early hours ie at 3 O'clock. She was given a token and her surgery was scheduled at afternoon.
She was taken into the operation theatre and doctors were about to perform the surgery. But after looking at the token, doctors said the time given for her was out and she was sent out without performing surgery. Her husband Suresh and family members lamented that doctors were not answering convincingly for their action.
When The Hans India contacted the hospital superintendent Dr Mallikarjun, he said the number of surgeries per day should not exceed 50, but that day the number went up to 70. "Our ANM brought the patient into the operation theatre.
After looking at the reports of the patient, we postponed the surgery," the doctor said. He also said that they are going to serve a memo to the ANM who clicked the photos and released to media.
