Donations pour in for Rotary
Hanamkonda: The Rotary Club of Hanamkonda, which collected donations as part of its fundraising event 'Doing good in the world', donated Rs 2 crore to Rotary Foundation Trust (RFT). This was revealed by Rotary Club of Hanamkonda president Rondla Narender Reddy to the media on Monday.
On the occasion, Rotary Club of Hanamkonda Rotarians Dr Chilukuri Sharath Babu and Dr Annapurna handed over a cheque of Rs 1.05 crore to the Rotary International trustee Gulam Vahanvaty. With this, the duo has been recognised as the prestigious Arch Klumph Society members.
Earlier, the duo provided Rs 70 lakh to the trust. The donations from other Rotarians – Thota Vaidyanath Rs 7 lakh, Samir Kumar Rs 70,000, Harihara Prasad 5.88 lakh, Ramprasad Rs 17.50 lakh, Nalla Hanumantha Reddy 6.30 lakh, Mallikarjun Rs 7 lakh and Venu Babu Rs 5.88 lakh. In all, a cheque for Rs 2 crore was also given to the trustee.
So far, the Rotary International District 3150 had provided Rs 5.25 crore to the RFT, District governor Ramesh Vangala said.
All that money collected through donations is being spent on health, education and infrastructural development across the country, Rondla Narender Reddy said.
Endowment adviser Patibandla Sambasiva Rao, Bolledla Reddy, Panyala Ravinder Reddy, Anil, Ram Reddy, Vijay, Sathish, Goli Ravi Kumar, Arun Kumar and Manohar Reddy were among others present.
