Hyderabad: Former minister and BJP leader DK Aruna asked the TRS ministers not to hide the government's inefficiency by blaming the saffron party to please Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to score marks and save their seats.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, she said that they must see how the negligence of the State government by not conducting tests in the initial stages, as demanded by BJP, has triggered the Covid spread in manifold proportions of the State.

Aruna pointed out that the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh had conducted about 8,00,016 tests, out of which 1,22,256 were identified as Covid positive cases. Against this, Telangana has conducted only 79,231 tests and 13,436 people have been identified as Covid positive. "If the Telangana government conducts Covid tests at the rate of Andhra Pradesh and other states in the country, then one can imaging the scary picture that might emerge," she added.

Criticising the State government for miserably failing in containing the spread of the deadly virus, the BJP leader said that, "It seems Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his government have thrown its hands up and are not able to handle the situation going out of hands with the increasing number of cases in Telangana."

Further, she said that the internal politics within the TRS and the anger of KCR towards the Health Minister Eatala Rajender turned into a curse to the people of the State. "The Health Minister knows the factual situation and alarming levels of the virus spread. However, he is not able to question his leader and are blaming the BJP to save his ministerial berth." Terming Rajender as a "dummy" minister who is doing what the TRS chief asks to do, she said that the number of cases given by the district and health officials are not squaring up with the Covid statistics dished out by the State government.

She said that the negligence of the State government led to the State capital, Hyderabad turning into a Covidbad.

The BJP leader has asked the government to pull up its socks and demanded to either include the Covid treatment under Arogyasri or extend free treatment for all or implement the Ayushman Bharat to extend Covid treatment to the poor and the needy in Telangana.
