Nizamabad: The government should rollback its decision to close government junior colleges, PDSU district vice-president Jannarapu Rajeshwar stated at a press conference at PDSU union office in Nizamabad on Tuesday.

Rajeshwar criticised the government for reducing the number of junior colleges in the name of rationalization and for closing down schools and junior colleges while trumpeting about providing free education on the other.

He said that there are about 404 government junior colleges across the State with nearly two lakh students. It was not fair to close government junior colleges on the pretext of lesser students and demanded the government to think about poor students, who cannot afford to study in private colleges.

The PDSU leader also demanded to fill up the vacant lecturer posts and to provide infrastructure in government colleges. Otherwise, he warned that PDSU will launch movements and protests to protect the government colleges.

PDSU district secretary Karthik, local leaders Sai Krishna, Pawan, Manohar and others were present at the press meet.
