Don't press the panic button, says Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan

Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday said that steps have been taken to prevent spread of coronavirus in the Raj Bhavan and wanted the people to be careful.

Addressing the media, she said that they have been monitoring the temperature of the staff of Raj Bhavan every day and sanitisers have been provided to the staff. She said that even her temperature is being monitored.

She appealed to the people of the State to observe the Janata Curfew on March 22. She said that people should remain indoors on that day from 7 am to 9 pm and in the evening they should thank the medical and para medical staff working for the treatment and prevention of the virus.

The Governor said that a programme would be organised at Raj Bhavan at 5 pm on the same day to extend support to the medical, para medical and other government staff who have been fighting the virus.

She said that in his speech on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged the people to fight against the virus. The message of the Prime Minister to the people is that be courageous and fight against corona.

She said that there was no need to get panic about the virus and people should take preventive measures. She said that those coming from the foreign countries are being monitored.

The Governor said that arrival of international flights to the State has been stopped. She said that as a doctor and as a Governor she would advise the people to be careful and not be panicked.

She said that the elderly people should not be allowed to go outside as they would fall prey easily to the virus due to low immunity levels.

Giving a message in Telugu she said, hands should be washed thoroughly, distance should be maintained, if there were any symptoms doctors should be consulted, and people should be alert and need not get panic.

The Governor said that it was not necessary to have sanitisers in every home and washing with water would help to prevent contact with the virus.
