Osmania University: Officials and students Osmania University opposed the plan of introducing a drainage pipeline of Ravindra Nagar Colony, Habsiguda, through the university land. Students of Maneru and New Godavari hostels opposed the plan of the municipal authorities because the drainage pipe line would lead to mosquito breeding.

"Long ago, colony denizens had used the way to travel by vehicles as it caused inconvenience to the University students as some accidents took place so we constructed a wall and kept stairs for pedestrians. But they proposed a plan to the GHMC commissioner to let a pipeline into University for the rainwater. Students strongly opposed the plan, so we denied permission," said N Venkateswarlu, Director, Estate Cell, Osmania University, while speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday.

"A wall separates the Osmania University and the colony. People used to throw the waste recklessly into campus premises instead of having garbage collectors option at their homes. Some of them are used to releasing their household water into the campus premises and this is causing foul smell and breeding of mosquitoes in the rainy season, ''says Narasimham, resident of a basti located at the OU campus. Ravindra Nagar Colony residents submitted a representation to the GHMC to let rainwater into the university campus.
