Drunk couple abuses traffic cop

Hyderabad: In yet another attack on traffic police personnel, a couple in an inebriated state obstructed the duties of a Traffic personnel at Champapet on late Thursday night.

The police stopped the car of the accused and booked them for drunk and drive.

According to B Sai Eashwar Goud, Inspector of police, Charminar Traffic, on Thursday at 10 pm when he along with his staff were conducting vehicle checking at Champapet area, they stopped a car and booked drunken and drive case against one M Balu, driver and detained the car.

The car owner Srinu Naik came out and started abusing the police for booking a case. Later, Srinu's wife Mudavath Pana along with her husband and some others started yelling and abusing at police personnel.

They allegedly sat on the road and obstructed the duties of the personnel and stopped the traffic movement.

Saidabad police on receiving the information rushed to the spot along with one policewoman to control the situation. Despite police efforts to convince the miscreants, they continued their activity and obstructed the police.

Pana allegedly brought petrol in a bottle and poured it on car and tried to set it ablaze. When the police stopped her activity, she poured petrol on herself and threatened to immolate self if the police did not release the car.

On receipt of complaint Saidabad police registered a case under sections 353, 309, 341, 506, 435, r/w 511IPC, 109 r/w 34 IPC and took up investigation.
