EAMCET Counselling: Parents, students demand hassle-free admission system
Hyderabad: "Give us hassle free admission system," is the loud and clear demand by the parents who accompanied their children attending the certificate verification process of the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test -2019 (TS EAMCET-2019).
Reacting to the confusion prevailing over the fee structure and exercising the web options, the students expressed their unhappiness with the way the admission process being handled by the State education authorities.
Speaking to The Hans India, Surya who came along with his sister for certificate verification of his niece, at the EAMCET-2-19 helpline centre (HLC) located in the Polytechnical College, Masab Tank here on Thursday, found fault with the Education Department for making parents a helpless lot.
The verification process at the HCL is going for the certificate verification of student seeking admission on the basis of special category quotas earmarked for the National Cadet Corps, Non-local and others quotas.
Surya pointed out that it has become a regular feature for both the parents and students to wait in tension until the admission process is completed.
This is only the process to take admission into the engineering courses. All that we can do is to pray that the process is not delayed or scuttled due to any kind of court cases, he added.
Devi Prasad, from Warangal, who accompanied his son, said, "My son is eligible to take admission on the basis of both the sports quota as well as NCC.
But this year, the State government has not notified the sports quota." When asked officials at the HCL said that the issue of sports quota is before the courts, so they were told not to verify the certificates of students seeking admission under the sports quota.
Adding, the HCL is handling the certificate verification of anywhere between 500 to 600 students every day.
Adding "Currently we are verifying certificates of the students who have come here seeking admission under the NCC and other special categories, including the non-local quota,"
Harsha, who is interested to pursue Computer Sciences Engineering (CSE) pointed out, "We should have an admission system to join the college on the basis of academic admission notification.
But, not waiting in tension till courts deciding in one way or the other. For this, he wanted the State government to ensure that the entire process is free from such hurdles.
Expressing a similar view, Lalitha and her two friends landed with their NCC credentials for certificate verification said we are not at all happy with such developments and wanted the admission process should be smooth and free from any kind of hurdles.
Habibullah, another parent from the city said the State Education Department should act more responsibly.
