EC officials to review arrangements for Nizamabad polls today

Hyderabad: A team officials from the Election Commission of India will be visiting the State on Tuesday to take stock of preparedness of the officials to hold election for Nizamabad Lok Sabha.

The delegation will be holding a meeting with Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Dr Rajat Kumar and other senior officials and Nizamabad district administration.

After taking a decision to hold election using EVMs instead of ballot paper, the ECI gave directions to ECIL for immediate supply of 26,820 BUs (Ballot Units), 2,240 CUs and 2,600 VVPATs of M3 make to Telangana election authorities.

Officials from New Delhi are likely to meet ECIL team and engineers and get their views for smooth conduct of election through M3 make EVMs.

A total of 185 candidates are in electoral fray from Nizamabad and total number of voters in this constituency is over 15.5 lakh
