Efforts on for plastic-free Medaram Jatara: Mulugu district Collector C Narayana

Mulugu: In a bid to discourage the use of plastics, Mulugu district administration would be organising a short film contest. District Collector C Narayana Reddy here on Wednesday said that their aim was to make the upcoming biennial Sammakka Saralamma Jatara in Medaram plastic free. "In a bid to sensitise people about the ill-effects of the plastics that remain in the environment for longer periods, we have decided to organise a short film contest. Conveying message through short films is an effective way," Reddy said.

The screening committee would be headed by film director Veera Shankar, noted actor Srikanth, director Hareesh Shankar and director of photography Chota K Naidu. Whereas director Shiva Nageshwar Rao, anchor and social worker Jhansi, writer Siddharth, directors Chandra Mahesh, Dr L Srinath and Maruthi would be screening committee members, the Collector said.

The committee will select three best short films. Winners of the contest would get cash rewards First prize Rs 75,000, second prize Rs 50,000 and third prize Rs 25,000. Later, the Collector released the posters of short film contest.
