Emphasis on greenary, sanitation laid during KTR's visit to Devarakonda

Devarakonda (Nalgonda): Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao called upon people to change the society by changing themselves. On Tuesday, he toured Devarakonda town as part of Pattana Pragati programme. As part of his tour, he inspected 11, 12 and 19 wards in the town and interacted with the people about the issues they were facing in their respective wards besides the implementation of State government's welfare schemes.

After laying stones for the development works including underground drainage, CC roads, parks with an estimated cost of 50 crore in the town, the Minister addressed a gathering during a meeting held on the occasion.

In his power-packed speech, KTR said the government has been providing safe drinking water to people of Devarakonda town through Mission Bhagiratha scheme. "Power supply across the State is at satisfactory level and small traders are doing their businesses with confidence," he said.

Apart from government jobs, the State government has been providing employment to lakhs of unemployed youth by paving way for industries under TS I-Pass. He urged the people of Devarakonda to extend their cooperation for the development of the town in all aspects. Stating that local municipality was going to establish a dumping yard in 6 acres in the town, he advised the people segregate wet and dry waste before handing it over to waste collectors.

Public toilets will be established in every town to make Telangana an open defecation-free State, he asserted. He advised the people not to bribe anybody for any work in any departments including municipality.

He also suggested people to plant saplings to transform Devarakonda into a green city. Devarakonda MLA Ravindra Nayak, District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil, MLC Karne Prabhakar and others accompanied the Minister.
