Ensure eco-friendly environs: Warangal Urban Zilla Parishad chairman M Sudheer Kumar
Warangal: Ensure a better eco-friendly environment to future generations than considering about passing an inheritance of assets to them, said Warangal Urban Zilla Parishad chairman M Sudheer Kumar, who along with Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil, participated in 30-day special action plan programmes in Elkathurthy and Bheemadevarapally mandals on Thursday.
The ZP chairman said that people never faced a drought as long as trees were abundant in numbers. "We started to face famine conditions with the gradual depletion of greenery around us. To mitigate the drought-like situation in the State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao initiated Haritha Haram, a massive afforestation drive," Sudheer said.
Taking part in the plantation drive, he told the local body to slap fines on those, who were resorting to felling of trees. "By successfully implementing Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Kanti Velugu, KCR Kits and other programmes, the TRS government has become a role model for other States in the country," he said.
The Collector said that the government, which is keen to turn villages into model ones, has chalked out a plan and releasing funds based on population of each gram panchayat. "The onus is on civic body and the residents to keep their village clean and green," Patil said. He told the civic body to ensure hygienic conditions in the village by earmarking two dumping yards. He appreciated the gesture of a local Linga Rao for donating Rs 20,000 for procuring tree guards.
