Experts dwell on sustainable development in Warangal

Warangal: A three-day international conference on 'Innovative Trends in Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development' (ITCSD - 2019), as part of NIT Warangal's Diamond Jubilee celebration, has begun on the NITW campus here on Friday.

NITW Director Prof NV Ramana Rao said that the conference was aimed at focusing on critical issues related to sustainability in terms of use of water resources, effective utilisation of materials, recycling of waste and effective restoration of aging infrastructure.

"More than 200 participants were here to take part in the deliberations and presenting their research findings in the key areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation and Water Resource and Environmental Engineering," he said.

National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, Director Dr Sharad K Jain has stressed the need for conserving water resources for sustainable human existence. Head of Civil Engineering Department Prof M Chandrasekhar has mentioned the significance of the conference in the backdrop of diminishing resources for the infrastructure development.

Organising secretary of the conference Prof NV Umamahesh presented the key issues related to the sustainable development. Prof Ramana Rao also shared his views on sustainable forms for tall building construction. Apart from the delegates from various institutes, many faculty members, officers of the institute, students and research scholars were present among others.
