Fake seed sellers warned of PD Act in Khammam
Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan and Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal ordered officials to invoke the PD Act and slap criminal cases against the traders who sell spurious seeds and cheat the innocent farmers in the district. They conducted a review meeting at the Special Branch Conference Hall with the Police and Agriculture officials on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Karnan said, "We have to strengthen the surveillance system to prevent fraudulent seed sale to the farmers in Khammam district. Special Task Force teams are
advised to be set up with the agriculture officials to control the sale of fake seeds."
The Collector also added that "farmers also need to be aware of strangers and traders from other regions and don't buy the fertilizers and seeds from them. They should ensure that the quality seeds and fertilizers are available only to the certified traders.
Agriculture department officials are responsible for controlling the fake pesticide sales in order to benefit the farmers. The local police officers will provide the necessary assistance. Task Force, Special Branch and Crime Station Police, along with local police, should focus on this," he emphasized.
He said that the seed stock registers, fertilizers and pesticide stock details in the fertilizer shops in the mandal center should be thoroughly examined by the agriculture officers regularly. On this occasion, the District Collector and Police Commissioner released a poster designed by the Department of Agriculture on the sale of fake seeds.
Additional DCP Admin Pooja, trainee IPS officer Vineeth, ACPs Satyanarayana, Venkatrao, Prasanna Kumar, Venkatesh, Sada Niranjan, Ramanujam, Joint Director of Agriculture Jansi Lakshmi, AD Srinivas Reddy and others were among those attended the meeting.
