Farmer attempts suicide over error in land documents

Narayanpet: A farmer from Kyathanpally village, Damargidda mandal in the district, consumed pesticide at Narayanpet district Collectorate on Saturday as he was allegedly upset over an error in his land documents.

According to sources, the revenue authorities had entered wrong details of his land and instead of entering 2.24 acres of land, they had entered only one gunta land in his pattadar passbook.

His repeated requests to Tahsildar and other officials to correct the wrong entry of land details in his pattadar passbook fell on deaf ears.

Aggrieved over this, Narasimhulu visited Narayanpet district Collectorate for justice but the district authorities also did not took cognisance of his plight.

Depressed over this, the farmer consumed pesticide in front of the Collectorate and fell unconscious.

The police said that he was taken to a hospital and was out of danger. The District Collector called on him in the hospital, they added.
