Farmer invents bike trolley for transportation
Nizamabad: Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Needs and problems in fulfilling these needs make people to create new methods.
A farmer from Renjal village in Nizamabad district, Ranganagari Bhaskar Reddy has about 20 acres in the village. He cultivates vegetables, paddy and soya bean. He had a tractor five years ago, but he had to sold it due to lack of drivers.
After selling the tractor, he had a tough time in doing the farm work as it became a problem to shift farm labourers from village to the lands. Hiring an auto turned as a major financial burden on him. Also transporting vegetables to the market became a big task for him.
He had faced several problems in transporting farm labourers and equipment to his lands. Shortage of drivers, tractor maintenance expenditure, almost no bullock carts made it increasingly difficult for him.
He gave a serious thought to his problem and came with an idea – that is bike trolley. He modified his bike and attacked a multi-purpose utility trolley to his bike. The trolley was manufactured at a cost of Rs 20,000. This bike trolley can transport eight workers at a time. Also inputs of agricultural work could be transported.
Speaking with The Hans India, Bhaskar Reddy said that earlier he had to pay Rs 300 per day for auto towards transportation of labourers. "Now I am happy as I can transport farm labourers with just the price of half-litre petrol per day. And it is very easy also," he added.
The farmers said that in the past his tractor worth Rs 5 lakhs remained idle due to lack of drivers. It is impossible to maintain livestock so bullock cart is also not a good idea. Bhaskar Reddy said now the cart is very helpful in so many ways.
Bhaskar Reddy's wife Manasa also do farming. He has two daughters Sanvi and Shreshta.
