Farmers should not get cheated by brokers: MLA Shinde

Kamareddy: Jukkal MLA Hanmanth Shinde urged the farmers to sell their redgram at purchasing centre only established by Markfed. He inaugurated redgram purchase centre at Bichkunda market yard on Tuesday, which was set up by Markfed.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the farmers, who toils on the farm unmindful of the glaring hot sun, should not get cheated by the middlemen. Informing the farmers that the government will pay Rs 5,800 per quintal for their produce, he urged them to follow average quality standards. He asked the farmers of Bichkunda and Jukkal mandals to sell redgram produce at the purchase centres only.

AD Anjaneyulu informed that redgram was cultivated in about 80,936 acres in six mandals of Jukkal constituency and 3.50 lakh quintals of produce has been harvested. In Jukkal mandal, redgram was cultivated in 15,156 acres and the yield was 75,000 quintals, zonal agriculture officer Naveen Kumar said. Bichkunda market yard chairman Venkat Rao Desai, sarpanch Sairam, MPP Ashok Patil, market committee vice-chairman Mallikarjun, farmers and others were present at the event.
