Farmers stage protest in Atmakur demanding quality power for agriculture
Wanaparthy: Farmers in Atmakur mandal of Wanaparthy district staged a road blockade at the district headquarters on Thursday. The farmers have been facing a tough time for the last one week as the electricity department officials were not releasing electricity to the farming sector in the mandal. It is said that the farmers were facing frequent power cuts because of which they were not able to take up the cultivation in their lands.
"We are facing frequent power cuts. As already we are late due to delayed rains, with electricity department officials not releasing quality power supply, we are not able to take up farming. We are demanding the department officials concerned to provide quality power for 24 hours," demanded the farmers.
However, the electricity department officials said that they were forced to cut power due to frequent power line repairs in the area and they said once the power lines were repaired, the farmers would get adequate power without any power cuts.
