Farmers urged to sell cotton at CCI centres in Suryapet

Nagaram (Suryapet): Thungathurthy MLA Gadari Kishore Kumar stated that all villages must take the responsibility of protecting the saplings planted under Haritha Haram programme. On Wednesday, he took part in the Haritha Haram programme held along the Suryapet-Jangoan road in Phanigiri and Nagaram villages of Nagara Mandal in the district. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon villagers to take collective responsibility in protecting the planted saplings in the interest of future generations and to reduce the increasing pollution levels.

"The State government designed the Haritha Haram programme to improve the forest cover in every part of the State," he said, adding that keeping the problems of supply of plants fromcenterscenters other places, the government had established nurseries in every village to make Haritha Haram programme a grand success. Stating that the government has made the plantation drive mandatory in new Panchayat Raj Act, the MLA said that Sarpanch and his officials must take the responsibility of increasing the green cover in respective gram panchayat limits. Local body representatives, officials, villagers and party workers took part in the programme.

Meanwhile, the MLA informed the villagers that the Cotton Corporation of India has set up a cotton purchasing centre at Siddik Cotton Mill located at Pragathi Nagar in Nagaram Mandal and advised the farmers to sell their cotton produce at the CCI procurement centre to get Minimum Support Price.
