Farmers welfare is KCR's priority: Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao

Mahabubabad: The people need to notice the difference between the previous establishments that ruled the undivided Andhra Pradesh and the governance of the present TRS government, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said while inaugurating a paddy procurement centre at Matedu village under Thorrur mandal on Thursday. The minister said that the State government gives utmost priority to the agriculture sector by the government.

"The welfare and development programmes introduced by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao indicate that he is keen to make agriculture profitable. In addition to the Rythu Bandhu, the State government's flagship programme that provides Rs 10,000 per acre per annum to the farmers as input subsidy, and the Rythu Bima, insurance scheme provides a life cover of Rs 5 lakh for farmers, the government is spending thousands of crores of rupees on irrigation projects, so that to turn parched lands into green pastures," Erraelli said.

The government which completed Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in a record time has also started supplying drinking water, he said. Referring to the 24-hour power supply to the farm sector, he said that KCR made it possible that the previous governments had even dared to dream.

"In a bid to ensure minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers' produce, the government has allocated Rs 13,000 crore," he said. He said that government has made arrangements for the procurement of paddy from farmers. He appealed to people to notice the difference between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central and TRS-led State governments in regard with the measures taken for the welfare of the farming sector.

Receiving Swachh Survekshan Grameen Award, given for cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across the country, on behalf of the Telangana Government was a honour, the minister said, giving credits to KCR and officials who made it possible. In another programme at Thorrur, the minister inaugurated a football tourney for Under-17 boys.
