Fate of SSC students today in Telangana
Hyderabad: The fate of over 5 lakh SSC students will be decided on Monday. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has convened a high-level meeting with top officials of the State Education department to put an end to the uncertainty on whether or not to hold the SSC exams.
Keeping in view the safety of students high in mind, the government is mulling to follow the system adopted by Punjab Government. Punjab government had announced cancellation of the class 10 exams stating that students will be promoted based on their performance in pre-Board exams.
All the schools, including private and government owned institutions already conducted internal exams and pre - final examination in February by strictly adhering the norms set by the government. Hence following the system of promoting students based on the performance of pre-final examinations is under active consideration.
Another option before the government is to conduct online exam. Under this system, the students could be permitted to appear for online examinations from their respective schools after following the WHO guidelines.
It may be mentioned here that though the High Court permitted the state government to hold SSC exams across the state except in GHMC limits, the government felt that it would not be proper to do so. Instead, it felt that it should re-examine the issue in detail and take a proper decision.
Even the BJP has suggested that the SSC students be promoted based on pre-final examinations as suggested by the High Court. Hence the Monday meeting assumes great importance.
