Divisional Medical Officer (DMO) of Fever Hospital detained when she complained of being charged with Rs 1.15 lakh medical bill for one-day treatment. Sultana admitted to Thumbay Hospital New Life in Chaderghat with coronavirus symptoms and was charged a whooping of Rs 1.15 lakh for 24 hours.

Sharing her bitter experience, Sultana released a video alleging improper treatment at the hospital and said that the hospital staff detained her for paying only Rs 40,000. The doctor also shared a letter with the sequence of things going with her at the hospital. According to the letter, Sultana was tested positive for coronavirus 16 days back and was treating herself at home.

However, she was admitted to the hospital on July 1 with difficulties in breathing. "They did not give any medication on time. Fabiflu, the main drug was given almost 22 hours of prescription. Neither the medicine is good nor nurses are responsible," Sultana said.

Sultana further said that she was discharged 24 hours after being admitted to the hospital and was charged Rs 1.15 lakh bill. "I paid Rs 40,000 as I did not have money and they refused to discharge me and detained me," she complained. She also said that she was given 10 insulin injections without food. "I was going into hypoglycemia. This is truly an act of irresponsible, selfish, negligence and Sadistic behaviour," she said.

Health minister Eatala Rajender reacted over the issue and ordered the officials to shift her to NIMS. The orders directed the NIMS to provide free treatment to Sultana.
