Final notice slapped on chief Qazi of Shalibanda
Nampally: After Chief Qazi of Shalibanda Mir Qadar Ali failed to appear for the inquiry over 'misappropriation,' on several occasions this year, the inquiry officials have served the final notice seeking fulfillment of all the formalities by September 21. The report will later be submitted in the court for taking up proceedings, which may result in possible stripping of his position.
On Saturday, the officials conducted latest hearing as part of the inquiry, but the Qazi in question, Mir Qadar Ali, who is also president of Anjuman-e-Qazat, failed to appear even this time. He was represented by his counsel rather than him being in person at the Quazzat section in Haj House.
The latest inquiry was launched following the complaint by Ibrahim Shareef, who was represented by his counsel Abdullah Bin Ali Bahmaid allegedly over 'misappropriation' and holding marriage records of the past 20 to 30 years.
Later, he was served the final notice by the enquiry officer at TS Wakf Board, KA Wahid Khan. "We have issued first notice four months ago, but he has not given any reply. In the notice, I framed charges leveled by the petitioner.
Now, I have given final notice and if he fails to respond then the report will be submitted to the court. I have given sufficient time, and he has not availed of the opportunity. As per the Qazi Act, if allegations are proved, he will be removed from his position," said the enquiry officer.
Speaking to media persons, petitioner's counsel Bahmaid said that the Qazi in the question was yet to submit the records of the past two to three decades jeopardising the lives of thousands who were married during the period.
"Generally records should be available not only with groom and bride, but also with the Qazi, Wakf Board and even at the TS Archives Institute. It has been a norm in the State and it cannot be taken casually. I hope the black sheep are removed from the noble profession," he said.
It may be noted here that earlier in April, Mir Qadar Ali, the Qazi who has been facing inquiry, refuted all kinds of allegations like 'misappropriation' and termed them 'false.' He also said that he was acquitted only in the case of conducting 'Arab marriage.'
