Final phase of Telangana Parishad polls today

Warangal: The stage set for the third and final phase of polling for zilla parishad and mandal parishad (ZPTC and MPTC) elections on Tuesday. Arrangements were in place for the polling of 19 ZPTC seats and 235 MPTC seats in erstwhile Warangal district.

In Warangal Rural district, as many as 23 candidates are in the race for the five ZPTC seats Chennaraopet, Atmakur, Damera, Geesukonda and Nekkonda, and 180 for the 52 MPTC seats. Venkatapuram MPTC under Nekkonda mandal was elected unanimously.

In Mahabubabad district, polling will be held for Mahabubabad, Kesamudram, Nellikuduru and Gudur ZPTC seats and 67 MPTC seats, of which one was unanimous. Polling for three ZPTCs - Chityal, Tekumatla and Mogullapally, and 30 MPTCs in Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district will be held in the last phase. It may be noted here that one MPTC was elected unanimously.

In newly formed Mulugu district, three ZPTCs Mulug, Venkatapur (Ramappa) and Govindraopet, and 36 MPTCs to go for polling. Elsewhere in Jangaon district, elections will be held to Chilpur, Station Ghanpur, Zaffergadh and Ragunathpally ZPTCs and 54 MPTC. Three MPTCs were elected unanimous.

It may be mentioned here that polling for Parishad elections in Warangal Urban district was completed in the first two phases.

Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao and all the TRS legislators extensively campaigned for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidates. On the other hand, Mulugu MLA Seethakka alias Danasari Anasuya campaigned for the Congress candidates.
