Fire officials pick holes in hospital building construction
Hyderabad: Ranga Reddy District Fire Officer along with Station Fire Officer, East Zone inspected the non-multistoried building of Shine Children's Hospital, LB Nagar on December 30, 2014.
In the inspection report submitted to the DMHO, the fire officials pointed out to few defects in the hospital building which was G+3 floors as well as a cellar.
According to rules, open space of 1.5 metres has to be provided in North, West, South of the said building and 2 metres in East (South). However, no open space was provided.
Also, it pointed out that capacity of underground static water storage tank was only 10,000 litres as against the required 50,000 litres.
According to Fire safety measures, pumps (electrical pump, diesel pump, jockey pump, booster pump) are a must, but the management only provided booster pump of 900 LPM ignoring the other three pumps.
Fire officials in their letter stressed that pumps and an external ramp (of minimum 1.25 metres width) must be provided within three months and report compliance.
Later, the Commissioner and Special Officer, GHMC issued the Fire NOC through a letter (I/129/2015), according to District Fire Officer, Ranga Reddy.
