First of its kind Digital initiative on Indian Railways by SCR for approval of ESPs
Hyderabad : The two-day training program on e-DAS (Drawing Approval System), hosted by the South Central Railway, for Engineering Department officials of eight Zonal Railways began at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Thursday. e-DAS is the first of its kind of digital initiative for drawings approval mechanism towards paperless working and speedy approvals.
Addressing the inaugural session, SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya said that e-DAS is one of the series of products adopted and brought by SCR on e-platforms for Pan India level such as e-office, UMID, KAIZALA etc. e-DAS will ease the process of getting approvals for drawings. He complimented K. Siva Prasad, Principal Chief Engineer and his team along with M/s. Capricot & Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for developing the Application in short period of time. e-DAS has been the vision of Chairman Railway Board for Pan India implementation he added. This system provides accountability at various stages while processing the drawings for approval. This will ease in saving lot of time and also can be done flexibly in expedition for getting the approvals of drawings and in preparation of detailed estimate before calling for tenders and facilitates for commencement of projects within the targeted time.
Siva Prasad welcomed the gathering of delegates and said e-DAS has been developed by SCR, which is first of its kind on Indian Railways and the concept of electronic platform for online approval of drawings. This will be implemented on Pan India level, he added which will speed the tendering process. He said e-DAS will help for meticulous planning before execution of work. This has been taken up on SCR after successful pilot testing for approval of Engineering Scale Plans (ESPs) This system centralizes the data in a central location and provides highest level of security by storing the drawings in a secure location on the server thereby eliminating the conventional method of storing the data in local hard drives. This system also ensures backup and restoration of the files which eliminates the risk of data loss.
On this occasion, a technical booklet on e-DAS was released by the General Manager.
Additional General Manager John Thomas, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Vijay Agarwal, SCR officials and delegates from Northern Railway, North Easter Railway, North Frontier Railway, Western Railway, North Western Railway, North Central Railway, East Central Railway and North Frontier Railway (Construction) were amongst those present during the inaugural session.
