Focus on Haritha Haram in Warangal
Warangal: The State government has set a target of planting 2.21 lakh saplings under the fifth phase of Haritha Haram in Warangal Rural district. All the district wings need to chalk out an action plan to make the programme a huge success, Rural District Collector M Haritha said. She told the officials to supply fruit-bearing and flowering plants to all the households in rural areas.
"There is a need for formation of committees in each gram panchayat to take up plantation drive soon after rains start to pick up. Officials need to maintain registers with details of saplings planted."
Referring to the protection of the saplings post plantation, the Collector said that onus is on the officials to ensure survival of the saplings. She directed the officials to bring awareness about the importance of fruit-bearing plants, flowering plants and shade-giving trees that not only conserve the environment but also provide additional income to farmers. She also directed the officials to focus on avenue plantation.
