Foreign varsities keen to set up research centres in TS: Vinod
Hyderabad: Telangana Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar said that many foreign universities such as Harvard, University of Pittsburgh, University of Pennsylvania etc., have expressed interest in starting research centres in Telangana thanks to the enacted Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2018.
Vinod Kumar was speaking at the valedictory session of 'EDU Summit' jointly organised by CII and TSCHE here on Friday.
Vinod Kumar said that Telangana was doing extremely well in many sectors like IT/ITES, pharma, trade, infrastructure, biotech etc. Along with these, education was also one of the top priorities of Telangana government. State has emerged as the best-chosen destination for Higher education.
He also outlined that the State government has drawn appropriate action plans and strategies to strengthen the education sector and also provide right skills and training to the youth.
"Telangana government through its Council of Higher Education has embarked on many initiatives intended to bridge the gap between industrial organisations and educational institutions and prepare students to be job ready," he said.
It is a known fact that universally education, entrepreneurship and innovations are going to be key drivers of economy, he added.
