Forest department finds no trace of Leopard in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Even after a day of the leopard went missing from Katedan after injuring a man, the forest officials are yet to trace the big cat. Meanwhile, the officials found the footprints of the leopard in the nearby farmhouse.

The leopard was found relaxing on the underpass road at Katedan around 6 am. Officials said that the animal seemed to have been injured as it did not move from the place for a long time. A lorry driver identified as Subhan who went near the animal was injured after it attacked him.

As the crowd gathered at the spot, the leopard moved into the nearby farmhouse and was untraced. Meanwhile, the forest officials asked the residents in the nearby areas not to venture outside.

Shamshabad DCP Prakash Reddy asked the people not to panic. He said that they have found the leopard has escaped from the farmhouse into the agriculture varsity from where it moved to the forest area in Gaganpahad and then towards Himayatsagar lake.

In a similar case on Thursday, the forest officials caught a civet cat which created panic among the residents in Golconda. The residents mistook it as a black panther and alerted the forest officials who caught the animal and shifted it to Nehru Zoological Park in the city.
