Foundation course for Military Engineer Service launched
Hyderabad: Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana rolled out the first-ever Foundation Course (FC) in the country for Group A Officers (Probationers) of Military Engineer Services (MES),sponsored by Ministry of Defence, Government of India today.
Major Gen. N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, who was the Chief Guest, called upon the Probationers to acquire up-to-date knowledge and skills to provide world-class infrastructure to the Indian Armed Forces so as to enable them to perform their duties effectively and achieve their cherished goals."Environment-friendly buildings, garnering renewable sources of energy, waste management, and digitalization of services need to be dovetailed in all future planning"Major Gen. Rao stated and added that the challenge of falling water table calls for water harvesting projects and recycling of water through Sewage Treatment Plants.
Major Gen. Rao advised the Probationers to acquire thorough knowledge of Project Management, Operations Research, Systems Analysis, etc. in order to enrich and diversify their professional acumen. He said that, in addition to enhancing professional competence, the Probationers should imbibe the right set of professional values and positive work ethics.
B P Acharya, Spl Chief Secretary to Government & DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute, in his presidential address, said that the objective of the feature-rich Foundation Course is to help the Probationers develop well-rounded personalities so as to enable them to appreciate the issues relating to their profession in their true and total frame of reference and to emerge as a productive part of the Military Engineer Services. He stated that cultivating the habit of pursuit of excellence will result in their professional success.
Brigadier Mukund Sharma, Chief Engineer (Factories) said that in the broader context of the mind-boggling changes that the country has been undergoing, mere technical skills are not enough for the Probationers to succeed in their careers. He called upon them to keep their skill set current and up-to-date through continuous learning.
Anand Srivastava, Chief Engineer, R & D advised the Probationers to develop their personality profiles and emerge as efficient leaders.
The FC is being attended by 63 Probationers from 13 States, the break up being 24 from UP, 11 from Rajasthan, 5 from Bihar, 4 each from Uttarakhand & Haryana, 3 from MP, 2 each from CG, Delhi & WB, and 1 each from AP, Assam, Himachal Pradesh & Punjab.
Earlier, M P Sethy, Chief Consultant (Training & e-Learning) welcomed the gathering. P K Sharma, IFS (Retd.), Chief Consultant (FC) proposed a vote of thanks.
