Warangal: The 30-day special action plan is to make gram panchayats flourish, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said. The Collector, who along with the Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh, participated in the Gram Sabha at Inavole on Thursday, said that there was no constraint of funds for the all-round development of panchayats.

"Inavole would get Rs 83 lakh per annum from the State Government in addition to its revenue of about Rs 20 lakh raised through the property tax and other modes. After deducting the panchayat expenditure, the village would still have around Rs 75 lakh for its developmental works," the Collector said. Each GP will have to earmark 10 percent of its revenue for Haritha Haram and 15 percent for sanitation, he added.

Speaking at the meeting, Aroori Ramesh said that instead of waiting for government to do everything, people have to depend on themselves to give their best to their village. The constitution of standing committees for each GP will augur well for the growth of rural areas, he said, referring to the development programmes devised through 30-day action plan. "The tanks in Wardhannapet constituency would be filled by Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) waters," the MLA said.

Sarpanch Jannu Kumaraswamy, ZP vice-chairman G Sriramulu and MPP Marneni Madhumathi Ravinder Rao were among others present.
