The High Court Division Bench headed By Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy on Wednesday heard Suo Moto taken up public interest litigation converting a letter addressed by two senior counsels of the High Court S.Satyam Reddy, Jandhyala Ravishankar and four retired employees.

Apart from the public interest litigation, three other Writ Petitions filed by Telangana Government Pensioners joint action committee, a retired Head Master, and two-family pensioners seeking suspension of the GOs deferring payment of pension and salaries.

Advocate General Banda Shivananda Prasad informed the Court that the Governor of the State has promulgated the Ordinance No.2 and published in the Telangana Gazette making a special provision for the deferment of any payment in part due and payable to any person, institution, pension and remuneration to any employee or a pensioner in the event of disaster and public health emergency in the State.

CJ Bench directed the Advocate General to furnish a copy of the Gazette to the Bench along with the counsels for the petitioners in the batch of public interest litigations and Writ Petitions, who have challenged 25% deferment of Pensions and 50% deferment of salaries to the State Government employees. The Bench adjourned the batch of Pleas to 24th June 2020 so that the petitioners can amend the prayer of challenging the Ordinance.
